It doesn’t take up too much space in my kitchen and it blends very nicely with my matching kettle & toaster.

This Panasonic microwave is a 1000W, 32L and designed for medium-sized households. It features automated cooking settings and a Junior menu, making it family-friendly.

However, its larger size may consume significant counter space, its half-mirror door may not suit all kitchen styles, and it comes with only a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. I do like the strong square edge design though!

  • Large Capacity: Fits a 10-inch plate; ideal for cooking bigger meals.

This Black & Decker microwave offers a versatile cooking experience with its 5 power settings and a maximum output of 800W. It features a large 20-litre capacity that can accommodate a standard 10-inch dinner plate.

Additional functionalities include a 35-minute timer and a defrost option. While it’s ideal for everyday cooking tasks, it may lack some advanced features and could be bulky for smaller kitchens.

I personally like to have a digital display on mine, but if this isn’t as important for you, it’s still a great option.

  • 6 Power Levels: Versatile for various cooking needs.
  • Convenient: Defrost function and 30-minute timer.
  • Spacious: 20-litre capacity fits standard 10-inch plate.

Cons

This 800W microwave has 6 power levels and a 20-litre capacity, fitting a standard 10-inch plate. It includes a 30-minute timer and a defrost function, making it versatile and convenient for quick meals.

However, it has a manual interface and lacks advanced features, plus I’m not a big fan of the Rose Gold finish, however, I think this could look great in some interiors – especially if you also have Rose Gold accessories such as door handles, electrical sockets etc…

Russell Hobbs Black Microwave

Pros

  • Versatile: 800W, 5 power levels, and 8 pre-sets offer cooking flexibility.
  • User-Friendly: Easy-to-use digital interface.

This 20L digital Russell Hobbs microwave offers 800W of power with 5 adjustable levels and 8 pre-set cooking settings. Designed for convenience, it’s user-friendly and compact, but its limited capacity and basic features might not suit everyone.

The mirror door finish adds a sleek look but may require frequent cleaning but at least this one does have a digital display feature which is a tick for me.

Here Are Some Key Factors to Consider When Buying a New Microwave:

  • Power Output: Measured in watts, the power output determines how quickly and evenly your food will be cooked. Typical values range from 700 to 1200 watts.
  • Size and Capacity: Consider the size of the microwave to ensure it fits in your kitchen. Capacity, usually measured in litres,, is also important if you plan on cooking large meals or using large dishes.
  • Functions and Features: Some microwaves offer features like convection cooking, grilling, and steam cooking in addition to basic microwaving. Decide which functions are important to you.
  • Ease of Use: User-friendly controls and clear displays can make your experience much more pleasant. Some microwaves also offer preset programs for popular foods.
  • Energy Efficiency: Look for energy-efficient models to save on electricity. Some microwaves have an eco-mode for lower energy consumption when not in active use.
  • Safety Features: Features like child locks can be important if you have young children.
  • Reliability and Warranty: Choose a well-known brand that is known for its durability and offers a good warranty.
  • Cost: Microwaves are available in a range of prices. Choose one that fits your budget but doesn’t compromise too much on essential features.
  • Design and Aesthetics: Consider the colour, finish, and style of the microwave, especially if it will be sitting on your countertop. It should complement your kitchen decor.
  • Additional Features: Some microwaves come with additional features like sensor cooking, which automatically adjusts time and power levels, or defrost settings for different types of food.
  • Turntable: Check if the microwave has a turntable or a flatbed design. A turntable helps in cooking food more evenly but may limit the size of the dish you can place inside.
